My name is Dee Bird. I am originally from the concrete jungle of New York, but have spent most of my life in the south. I have had different hats but graduated in Office Administration & Media Technology. Yes, I did attend college! Way back in the 80's-90's in my younger years.
I have several siblings and various relatives (like we all do). I had one son, who passed away. I am also very involved with my church. I currently am the Grief Ministries Director there. I enjoy hiking, biking, camping, traveling, scrapbooking, photography & people! And my #1 best friend in my current life is my dog, Lizz,y, who is a tea cup Yorkie
I have received my Masters Life Coach and Grief Recovery Specialist through various credential coaching institutions throughout the United States.
· I received my Grief Recovery Specialist (Coach) in 2016 through the Grief Recovery Institute that comes out of Oregon.
I have completed my Masters Life Coach (Life Coach, Happiness Coach, Group Coach, Purpose Coach & more) from Transformation Academy in Clearwater, Florida from 2017- current.
· I am currently completing the Emotional Coaching, Mindset Coaching & the CBT Coaching at various Coaching Institutes including Transformation Academy 2021-Present. I have finally completed my Christian Mental Health Coaching through Light University in June of 2022.
I invested in this project for numerous of reasons. The first was after my son passed away, I noticed how many of family & friends who didn't show any kind of emotional support. There were a few who were loyal and faithful, while the ones who promised they would be there vanished. No texts, no emails, no phone calls, nothing! As I began to research this and investigate it more, I realized I was not alone with this issue. I learned they were uncomfortable with my grief.
Then I ran into Dr. H. Norman Wright's book that has changed everything! After much more research and studies, I applied to be a Grief coach and began teaching for free to the Muscular dystrophy community. I also volunteered at the local hospice center. I also began helping church family all while my family still thinks I am "crazy." They really-truly didn't understand my training, much less what a grieving mother was going through. They chose to be ignorant instead of being eager to learn as I have.
I do what I do, not only because of the compassion of helping people, but also because of the stories I heard from other parents and families of their same struggles; especially parents who lost children.
The more I learned about grief from my studies and my mentors ( Gary Roe,
Dr. H. Norman Wright & Clara Hinton), the more I began to understand my purpose, my role even if my family / friends still did not understand God's plan for my life.
My job as a Grief & Life Coach is to be the comforter, the encourager, the listener, the trusting friend.
